Promotion vs. Production

This cartoon is very funny, but it also speaks to a business truth that too many of us are ignoring today.

Too many entrepreneurs are so concerned with adding Twitter followers, Facebook and Instagram likes, and expanding their LinkedIn network, that they lose sight of the content or service they’re supposed to be providing all these new customers.

They end up inviting all these new people to their party, then they don’t have enough food and beverages to go around. What happens next? All those new people don’t stick around too long.

What about you? Have you diverted resources to social media promotion? Good - you have to these days. But has this diversion cut into your core business? Are you still offering the same level of service? Are you making sure your promotion doesn’t compromise your production?
